World of Warcraft...PWNED

Last night my guild took down the evil Lord of Blackrock Mountain, Victor Nefarian! Thats right boys and girls we pretty much own the game. We've been working on Blackwing Lair for about 3 months now and have it beat. Vael (the 2nd boss) and Firemaw (the 4th boss) gave us trouble and held us up for long periods of time but they are on total farm status now.

On another WoW note our server, Zul'jin, was the third server to open the gates of AQ today. The bugs swarmed out like a dam had burst and are crawling all over Kalimdor. We're currently working on the AQ 20 man instance and have managed to kill the first boss.

Check out our website at http://www.rebirth-guild.com for a screen shot of Nef's dead bloated corpse.

Auto Assault Beta - Installation

It took a while to install and get everything patched but I'm pretty much ready to go. The opening cinematic is pretty slick although I found it skip in a couple of places. As of right now, I'm unable to login. I keep getting timeouts when I try to access the test server. I've looked through the forums and have tried several suggestions, all to no avail. I eventually broke down and opened a ticket. Waiting for a response. Will keep you informed.

And just for the sake of objectivity, here are my system specs:
Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
1022MB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 64MB

I don't expect the game to look great with my graphics card but I do expect it to at least run.

Auto Assault Beta - Anticipation

Penny Arcade readers have been offered a chance to play the Auto Assault beta. I jumped on this a couple of days ago and received my key today. Right now I'm downloading the necessary files and should be ready to go when they open her up tomorrow. Unfortunately, our playtime is limited to the following:
"The beta weekend itself runs from 4PM (Eastern) Friday, January 27 to 3 am (Eastern) Tuesday, January 31"

The concept for this game has really piqued my interest. NCSoft hit it out of the park with the character creator in City of Heroes, so I'm interested to see how Auto Assault stacks up. Having your own "mount" from day one and being able to customize it should appeal to a vast majority of people. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, you can check out their site for more info.

The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj - Now Open for Business

For those who don't play World of Warcraft, let me break down the most recent patch and world event. With patch 1.9 "The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj", Blizzard implemented a virtual MMORPG equivalent of a scavenger hunt. Dubbed "The War Effort", players have to collect various items throughout the world using their trade skills. 3,850,000 items to be exact. Once the realm has collected all of the items, the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj can be opened leading to new dungeons, quests, etc. A laundry list of the items needed to open the gates can be found here. If you look at all the realms, you'll see that Durotan is currently ranked 49th. :(

Congratulations go to the Medivh realm for being first in the gate. GameSpot has put a video up of the event, which can be downloaded if you have a basic (free) membership.

Live Action Punch-Out

Comin' Straight At Ya. The level of enjoyment in watching this is directly proportional to how much you played the original game in either the arcade or on the NES. To this day, I can still remember what it sounds like when the game says "Body Blow".

Top Thirty Chuck Norris Facts

Just in case you missed this. I can't assume everyone is as plugged in as I am. :)

Funny Guild Names

Long time...no post. And look at that, it's about World of Warcraft. Who would have thunk it? There are some extremely creative people out there starting guilds. For my money, it doesn't get any better than "Riders of Lohan" and "Fruit of Elune". That's funny stuff people!

Registered Traveler Program Kicks Off In June

It's about time the airlines did something other than suck! Starting in June, the Regstered Flier Program starts. This program will allow frequent fliers to undergo an extensive background check that if passed, will allow travelers to skip quickly through security checkpoints in airports.

Pat Robertson Is The Devil.

OMG STFU Pat Robertson!

Great vintage pics Dork. Thanks for sharing! My time in Dereth is the ONLY reason I'm considering D & D in the next few months. I'm sure Fusion won't play since no plans for PvP, but I may play for a month or 2 just for kicks.

Holiday cheers to you all. May your New Year be fun, profitable and your heads filled with as much of your favorite stimuli as you can handle.

Since no one can buy Xbox 360s yet, what are you blowing all that Christmas money on in the meantime? Here's an idea (and I can't believe I've never blogged this before): You can build your own Mystery Science Theatre 3000 robots.

(D & D and MST3K in the same post!?! Ack...oh gawd....must.... recover....coolness.....)

I bought an official NFL Bengals jersey tonight to wear to a Steeler's party with work friends this Sunday. I'm edgy like that.
