FedEx Furniture

This guy managed to furnish his apartment by making furniture out of FedEx boxes. Ghetto living at its finest.

The Paprarazzi Are Breeding

It looks like their numbers are increasing and I have the perfect solution. We need to handle this like a booming deer population. The way I see it, hunters get more challenging prey and a delicate balance is maintained. It's win-win baby!

Free Katie

By this point you should be aware of the facts. If not, let me get you up to speed. Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are an item now and are currently engaged. Katie is converting to scientology, a "religion" (notice the quotes) that Cruise is a passionate follower of. Okay, I knew all this. Anyone keeping up with entertainment news knows this. This article has dug a little deeper though. Apparently, Katie recently fired her manager, fell off the radar for a few weeks, and has acquired some new friends. It's starting to sound like an episode of Unsolved Mysteries (hosted by Robert Stack). One can't help but wonder what's going on.

I heard about this site a few weeks ago and dismissed it as pure humor....nothing more. Now, I'm not so sure. Maybe they knew something was fishy all along. What if all of this is some huge massive plot to bring scientology to the masses? Stamp a pretty face on it and people will be more receptive to it. Maybe I'm just paranoid and like coming up with ridiculously complex conspiracies that seek to undermine our society.

No Geese Allowed!

Has humanity sunk so low that having well-manicured fairways is more important than living breathing creatures? Apparently we have.

Your Brain On Violent Video Games

This study has found that your brain reacts to violent video games, as if everything is real. What they fail to mention in this article is that most of your violent games strive for a huge degree of realism. There is a certain suspension of disbelief that has to occur, to make a lot of these games work. I'm not really surprised by this study's findings, but I hope this doesn't lead to people making wild accusations about how games are training kids to be killers. That's the last thing we need right now.

Microchip Pioneer Jack Kilby Dies

Read the story here. It's pretty amazing to think about what this guy did and how much it has impacted our world. People like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates get the spotlight but there are thousands of people behind them who quietly shaped our future, and we don't even realize it.

A Keyboard for UberGeeks

DasKeyboard is a blank keyboard with weighted button groups, meaning that your pinky doesn't have to push as hard as your index finger. This of course assumes you type correctly and aren't just chicken pecking. I got to admit, keyboards look pretty cool without all the inscriptions but $79.95 is a little rich for more blood.

Click Red

Cool little flash game.

Pop Culture RoundUp

Howdy y'all! It's time for a heaping helping of pop culture victuals:

  • Katie Holmes bowing down before L. Ron Hubbard. You go girl! While you're at it, why don't you sign up to become a Jedi, drink some Kool-Aid, and wait for the comet to come and get you.
  • Any chance this fall of having music on MTV? I'm afraid not.
  • Halo movie deal in the works. I like the way Microsoft is handling this and not giving up creative control. That combined with a script penned by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, The Beach) makes me giddy with anticipation. It also looks like Alex and Danny Boyle are teaming up again for a Sci-Fi flick called Sunshine. Sounds promising. As I was laying in my parent's pool this weekend, I found myself pondering how much it would suck if the sun just fizzled out. I think we can all agree it would suck pretty bad.
  • When Pilots Go Wild.
  • World Naked Bike Ride 2005. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried. Riding a bike isn't the most crotch-friendly activity a man can engage in. So why these guys are doing it in the buff is beyond me.

[BAD SIGNAL]

Warren Ellis is one of the few comic book writers that I'll admit to following around the industry like a love-struck rock star groupie at a Bon Jovi concert. Along with Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, Peter Milligan and a handful of others, Ellis is breaking new grounds in comics and is trully one of the medium's forefathers. He continues to force the comic book industry to evlove, mutate and re-invent itself with every title he writes.

I recently joined his email listing called BAD SIGNAL. He sends out 3-5 of the most entertaining emails I've ever read each and every day and at all hours of the night. Sometimes he may be talking about a new script he's working on for the Fantastic Four book or he may just be telling subscribers what he's having for lunch. Live, real time and creative entertainment at its finest. For more info, check out the BAD SIGNAL subscription page.

Seven Soldiers

Grant talks about the best thing to hit the DC Comics Universe since The Wonder Twins.

The first couple issues are out for each mini-series and I gotta tell ya...they're simply badass. Yes I know I'm a little stuck on the works of Mr. Morrison and I know this massive, mulit-title spanning project has a rather mainstream appeal to it, but quality comics are getting harder and harder to come by these days. For more info on each issue and what the storylines are like, check out DC Comics Online.

I cleaned up the membership roster, so any of you that want back on...well you gotta post something. This is a web log afterall!

The Evolution of Game Controllers

Go here and see how consoles' controllers have evolved over time. I don't know about you but I'm looking forward to this little bad boy right here. Two shoulder buttons and two trigger buttons.....Oooooh! That sounds reeeeaaaal nice. For anyone who has ever played Halo or Halo2, you are probably aware of the fact that the triggers (by default) operate your firearms and grenades. To cycle to your alternate weapon or change grenades requires pressing one of the face buttons on the controller. Now, imagine being able to use these shoulder buttons for switching and your triggers for firing. Are you picturing it? We're talking major ownage here people.
