Salesmen & Racists

I've been listening to Ike Reilly lately (www.ikereilly.com). If you can imagine Iggy Pop and Bob Dylan actually making sense...you would get a feel for his sound. If you can't imagine that..then have a listen to the album Salesmen & Racists.

Friday Fun Links

My friend Malcolm gets bored on Friday. He goes looking for bizarre crap on the internet. He finds bizarre crap on the internet. He sends it to me. I shall send it here.

Friday fun links from Malcolm:

The Best Page In The Universe.

I'm posting The Best Page In The Universe link at Chalie's request. Most of us here are all too familiar with Maddox, but Charlie had never seen the page, so we laughed about it over a few beers last week. Not for the sensitive sissies!

Re: Lexmark

I tried to post a comment on that page but got errors.....so I'll just paste it here. Mwahahahaha!

"I do not work directly for Lexmark but I do support them via another company. From what I have heard, they do ship less than full cartridges with their printers. It wouldn't surprise me if the difference in model numbers is simply a difference in ink levels. When it comes to making printers for personal users, I think we can all agree that they suck. If you look at it from a business perspective, they can sell cheap printers to you for a few reasons. Eventually you will need to buy more ink which is pricey, and then there's the fact that eventually your printer will flounder and maybe you will buy another one from them because it's so cheap. I think it's fair to say that direct printer sales to personal users probably only makes up a small percentage of their business. I don't have the numbers in front of me but I know they pull in big bucks selling high-end printing solutions to other companies. Then there's the deal they have with Dell. Don't be fooled by that Dell logo. Those are Lexmark printers they're selling.

I've only owned one Lexmark printer in my life and I wouldn't recommend them for personal printing. Now if you want a high-end laser printer for your business, then maybe.....if you can stomach it."

DENIED! / Spider-Man3 Cast Update

It looks like Lexmark doesn't like your games, Joe. Where you see good wholesome entertainment, they see vulgar and tawdry applications bent on subjugating our nation's youth and reinforcing unwanted behaviors. I ended up with a screen informing me that Websense considers that site "tasteless".

In happier news, it looks like the blond dude from "Sideways" has been cast as a villian in the next Spidey film. With no specifics as to what villian he will be playing, the mind is left to wander and wonder. My money is on either Venom or Carnage, but I can't imagine them having Carnage without Venom, so either way I'm a winner.

Squares - Flash Game

Another great game. Try Squares !

Paper Toss - Flash Game

I love wasting time with games. Try the Paper Toss!

Caption Machine

I've posted this link before but it is one of the greatest sites on the internet for a few quick laughs...check out the Caption Machine.

Citizen Cope

Citizen Cope is probably one of the most interesting artists I am listening to right now. Look deeper into the seemingly one dimensional hip/hop style and swagger of Cope and you will find an urbanesque Bob Dylan. Stories of tragedy and hope in an inner city, urban landscape. These tunes are dipped rhythmically in many musical influences including reggae as Bob Marley appears to be an influence. The new album is called "The Clarence Greenwood Recordings". The songs and melodies are fresh and the production is sparse with lots of space to groove on...

I saw him in Cleveland at the Grog shop and he kicks. If you want to see an extremely talented artist who is on the rise check him out at Headliners in Louisville this weekend. You won't be disappointed.

Google Software Downloads

OK we all know that Google is the only search engine worth a crap out there. Ask any geek why and he'll tell you, but many people dont realize all of the other stuff Google has to offer.

For instance, the Google_Toolbar is a quick download that blocks pop-ads better than anything I've ever seen (and I've seen a LOT of pop-up ads). Plus, there's a nifty little BLOG button on the toolbar to quickly blog whatever page you are viewing, making contributing to The Web Log Experiment simple.

Check out some of the other impressive Google_Services.

Fun with Cubicles

Greetings and salutations people. A new contributor is in the hizzy and I've got one question for you. Do you feel a bit like Peter Gibbons in Office Space today? If so, then turn that frown upside down. I've got the cure for that wicked case of the Mondays you've contracted:

Clear April 5th On Your Calender

Me and as many people as I can muster are going to Uncle Pleasants on April 5th to support one of our all-time, favorite artists, Brian Vander Arc. Check out http://www.bvamusic.com/ to see what he's up to lately. Most of you will remember Brian from the mid 90s as the lead singer for The Verve Pipe (http://www.thevervepipe.com/).
